About

The Memorious takes its name from the Borges story “Funes the Memorious,” about a man who remembers everything. We chose the name because we believe that the best literature does something similar: it lodges itself in the reader’s mind and refuses to leave. A great sentence, once read, becomes part of you.

We are an independent quarterly literary magazine that publishes fiction, creative nonfiction, flash fiction, and poetry. Our mission is to showcase moving meditations, forward-thinking fictions, and profound works of poetry from writers at every stage of their careers. We believe the literary magazine is not a relic of the past but a living form, and we intend to prove it.

Our first print issue ships on April 17, 2026. Each issue is printed on quality paper and designed with the same attention to craft that we ask of the writing we publish. We also share select pieces on our Substack, where readers can discover our voice and follow our progress.

The Memorious does not charge reading fees, does not run contests, and does not publish writing that we do not love. We are funded by subscriptions and the conviction that this work matters.
